As educators, we should aim to provide every young person with the skills and knowledge to become active participants in a digital world. In this course, you will examine the common barriers faced by students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in the computing classroom, and how to address these barriers. You will explore a number of general approaches and specific computing activities that will help to include and engage learners.
This course will support teachers who want to create a more inclusive computing classroom for all of their students.

Catherine Elliott
Catherine is the SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) lead for the Sheffield eLearning Service (sheffieldclc.net), and since the announcement of the computing curriculum in 2013 she has been working on ways to make the subject accessible for all learners.
Catherine regularly shares her expertise in Hello World magazine, where she has contributed an inclusion column since issue 16. She is a member of the CAS (Computing at School) Include working group, and leads the SEND Virtual and the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Secondary CAS Communities.
