This is especially true in the face of climate change and other forces threatening natural resources like biodiversity, land and water that are essential for food production and agriculture, including forestry and fisheries. To meet these challenges, science and the application of biotechnologies as well as conventional technologies will play a key role.” FAO

Join the MOOC Economics and Policies in a Biobased Economy and discover the whole value chain from Research & Development, over application, processing, retailing and final demand. Justus Wesseler
Prof. dr. JHH Wesseler graduated in agricultural, environmental and natural resource economics in Göttingen. His research is on the economics of biotechnology, value chains, and regulatory economics including issues related to coexistence. He focusses on the contribution of value chains to sustainability, and the impact of new technologies.
Dusan Drabik
Assistant Professor in the Agricultural Economics and Rural Policy Group at Wageningen University, The Netherlands and an affiliated researcher at LICOS - Centre for Institutions and Economic Performance, KU Leuven, Belgium.
Research interests in Agricultural, Environmental, and Energy Economics; Applied Welfare Economics; and International Economics, and also in the economic development in the Central and Eastern European countries.

Hans van Meijl
Hans van Meijl (PhD) is programme manager on the foodsecurity and biobased economy themes at LEI of the Wageningen University and Research Centrum. He is involved in research in international trade, agricultural policy, food security, the bioeconomy and the field of technological progress and innovation.
