The development of online education has brought opportunities and challenges for traditional teaching and learning. Nowadays it’s very important to learn about online education, which can help us study better and more easily.

This course focuses on 5 themes:

1.interpreting online education

2.discussing why online education is needed

3.explaining the current status of online education in colleges and universities

4.predicting the future of online education,

5.sharing online education practices and experiences from a large number of excellent teachers

Yu Shijie, Ph.D., Deputy Director of the Online Education Research Center of the Ministry of Education, Director of the Online Education Office of Tsinghua University, Deputy Director of the Internet Education Working Committee of China Internet Society, Secretary General, doctorate and researcher of the China University Prerequisites Council. He’s the second prize winner of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize winner of Beijing Teaching Achievement, and the first prize winner of Tsinghua University Experimental Technology Achievement.

Dr. Xinjie Yu received his Bachelor’s and Ph.D. from Tsinghua University in 1996 and 2001, respectively. He was a visiting scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2003 and Waseda University in 2008. Dr. Yu’s textbook for the course has been recognized as the premier textbook in the field by China’s Ministry of Education and Beijing City. Dr. Yu was named the Elite Researcher of Beijing City in 2006 and the New Century Talent of China’s Ministry of Education in 2012.

Dr. Junhui DENG is a professor of Computer Science and Technology at Tsinghua University. He received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science & Technology from Tsinghua University in 1993, 1995 and 1997 respectively. He has an experience of teaching both Data Structures and Computational Geometry for more than 15 years.

邓俊辉,清华大学计算机系副教授。1993、1995和1997年分别于清华大学计算机系获学士、硕士和博士学位,1997年起在清华大学任教,此后常年讲授“数据结构”和“计算几何”。1998~2000年任IOI中国代表队总教练。

Yonghe Wu
Wu Yonghe, Ph.D., researcher, Doctoral Supervisor and Shanghai Pujiang talent. His main research interests include education, big data, learning analysis, science and education, artificial intelligence and wisdom education, new media applications education, information system architecture and standard education, and learning science and behavioral science. He hosted and participated in more than 50 research projects, 30 in which he presided over. There are 11 national and provincial projects within the 30 projects he presided, including one national fund key project, two national "Eleventh Five" plans to support key projects (sub-project), two 863 Program (sub-project), one Ministry of Education, Humanities and Social sciences Fund project, one National Educational Science Planning and Key Subject of the Ministry of Education, one Shanghai Pujiang Talents program, one Shanghai Municipal Education Science Key Research project, one high-tech field project of Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission "Technological Innovation Action Plan”, 10 standard projects of the Ministry of Industry and Informational Technology (MIIT). Wu participated as the main researcher in more than 20 projects (ranked 2nd and 3rd), and more than 10 of them are national and provincial projects. Wu published more than 80 theses, 50 of them are core research.

Zhang Yu, Bachelor of Engineering, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor, Doctoral Supervisor of Tsinghua University. Visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the person in charge of the National Excellent Online Open Course "Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Fundamentals of Law", the Tsinghua University Student Learning and Development Guidance Center Consultant, the National University Student Ideological and Political Education Research Center, and the Ministry of Education's "Ideological and Political Education Young Talents Program”. He’s mainly engaged in the teaching and research of college students' ideological and political education, network ideological and political education, network culture construction and management, network society and political communication. He has published 5 books and published more than 60 academic papers.

Zheng Li is a professor at the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Tsinghua University, the person in charge of the National Excellent Resource Sharing Division, and the head of the National Open Online Course. He received Second Prize for Natural Science from the Ministry of Education, the National Excellent Higher Education Quality Textbook Award, Second Prize from the Ministry of Education for Science and Technology Progress, Third Prize for Beijing Science and Technology Progress, Third Prize for Science and Technology Progress from the Institute of Electronics, the Second Prize for National Teaching Achievement, and the First and Second prizes from the city of Beijing for teaching achievements. He’s the Vice Chairman of the Beijing Computer Education Research Association, the Executive Director of the National Computer Education Research Association, the Executive Director of the National Computer Basic Education Research Association, the ISO International Standards Organization Expert and Standard Editor, and the Education Information Technology Standards Committee of the Ministry of Education. He’s an Expert and Deputy Secretary-General and mainly engages in computer education and software engineering and educational information research. As the person in charge, he has undertaken a number of national and ministerial research projects and hosted a number of national standards and international standards.

Wenge Guo
Guo Wenge, associate professor of the Department of Educational Technology, School of Education, Peking University, Doctoral Tutor, Director of the Digital Reading Laboratory. Bachelor of Computer Software, Peking University; Master of Science; Doctor of Higher Education; visiting scholar at the State University of New York and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has served as the head of the Department of Educational Technology , the executive director of the Fifth Council of the China Education Technology Association, the director of the Global Chinese Education Technology Association, the editor of the Journal of Educational Technology Development and Exchange, and as an expert member of the China Distance Education Journal. In 2011, he was selected as the “New Century Excellent Talent Support Program of the Ministry of Education”. He’s published 1 monograph, translated 2, written more than 50 papers, and undertaken more than 20 vertical and horizontal topics. He won Second prize for 13th and 14th Beijing Philosophy and Social Science Research Achievements and First prize for the 6th Beijing Education and Scientific Research Achievements. He won the 2016 Peking University Teaching Excellence Award, the 2008 Peking University Teaching Achievement Second Prize and has received many other teaching awards from Peking University. Representative research results: "China's online education policy changes - from the modern distance education pilot to MOOC" (monograph), "educational "technology" "development history", "the three links of higher education quality control: syllabus, teaching activities and teaching evaluation" and so on.
